Treatment philosophy

The MRI is part of the story — not the whole story.

Decisions should account for symptoms, examination findings, activity level, instability, associated injuries and what the patient wants to return to.

“The aim is not simply to treat an image. It is to restore safe, useful movement.”

FAQ

Common orthopaedic questions.

Does every ACL tear need surgery?

No. Treatment depends on knee stability, activity and sporting goals, age, symptoms and associated injuries. Some people do well with structured rehabilitation, while others benefit from reconstruction.

When should knee arthritis be considered for replacement?

Replacement is generally considered when pain and loss of function remain significant despite appropriate non-operative treatment and the clinical and imaging findings support advanced joint disease.

What is the difference between arthroscopy and joint replacement?

Arthroscopy is keyhole surgery used to assess or repair structures within a joint. Joint replacement resurfaces severely damaged joint surfaces with implants. They solve different problems.

Where does Dr Madhav consult?

At Apollo Hospitals Financial District, Hyderabad from Monday to Friday, and at MN Precision Clinic, Kakinada on Saturday.
